Background on Intel Xeon W-2100 Series
Intel's Xeon W series of processors are based on the Skylake W architecture, which is similar to Skylake X but has been adapted for workstation and server use. To that end, these CPUs have support for Registered ECC memory, higher RAM capacities, and a slightly increased PCI-E lane count compared to the enthusiast Core X series. The same socket 2066 is used, but in order to properly support the added feature set a different chipset / motherboard is required for the Xeon W processors.
